Description:
David Mahlowe wrote the following Foreword:
Practically the last work in the wonderful life of my friend and teacher Eugene Halliday was the final revision of this book. He was the inspiration for it, and the ever-present umbrella beneath which it was written. He provided the original lessons in Shakespeare's metaphysic, and he oversaw its setting down by me in the form you see here. For the experience of so doing, I am eternally grateful to Shakespeare and Halliday both. They spoke the same language.
The portrait of Shakespeare on the left was drawn for me by Eugene Halliday. When I asked the meaning of the expression on the Bard's face, the artist said, "He's plotting!"
